Introduction

  •  This article explains how to view the space used on the hosting account.

Requirements

  •  An active hosting account with cPanel, along with the login details (username and password).

Steps to follow

  •  We will access the cPanel through the link provided in the administration email for hosting, using the username and password from the same email.

  •  After logging into the cPanel control panel, in the FILES section, we will find the Disk Usage application that we will click on.

This will start a process to calculate the disk space occupied by folders on the account.

  • The automatic calculation can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the number of files present in the account, and at the end, the result will be displayed which will

contains the disk space occupancy rate up to that point.

Example: The space occupied by the folder public_html, which contains the website files, the folder mail for all existing email accounts on the account, the space occupied by MySQL databases, or the total space used out of the allocated space on the hosting account. This way, we will know if we need to delete old, unused files (logs, backup archives, etc.) to free up disk space, or if an upgrade of space for the hosting package will be necessary.

Note:  After the first Disk Usage view and subsequent changes made to the account (deleting, adding files, etc.), the total space quota may not be updated instantly. cPanel will update the new values a few minutes after the change.
